Kefalonia: A unique hiking experience in a UNESCO Geopark
Supported By: Kefalonia
Kefalonia may be popular among its visitors for its magnificent beaches, one of which being the award winning Myrtos beach, but its true beauty lies in its captivating nature. And what better way to explore and experience first hand this unique geo-diversity and biodiversity than by foot.
In recent years hiking has become one of the most popular sustainable activities through which travellers can experience cultural, historical and environmental sites. Kefalonia has developed a rich hiking network, but its most attractive trails are those situated within one of the most popular sites of the Geopark, the national park of Aenos.
Home to the Kefalonian fir (Abies Cephalonica) and broadleaf evergreen shrubs, a biodiversity unique to the park, it’s no wonder that this experience shouldn’t be missed. The beautiful picnic area situated in the heart of the park is ideal for little strollers to take a snack break while enjoying the playground’s facilities. But also the breathtaking view points will leave every visitor in awe.
Kefalonia’s Geopark trails will enrich every visitor and will further encourage travellers to visit the plethora of geo-sites waiting to be discovered.
