Pick Florina’s perfect peppers
Where can you pick the perfect pepper? Tucked in the northwest of Greece, bordering North Macedonia and Albania, Florina has an almost Alpine feel, with mountains and vineyards, and a very special pepper farm.
Set in 80 acres of organic farmland, located at the foot of Mount Vorra and close to the famous vineyards of Amyntaio, sits the stone house of the Naoumidis family pepper farm. Here traditional recipes using Florini peppers have been inherited and refined to create contemporary classic cuisine.
Born out of a love for cooking picked up in the family’s restaurant kitchen, the Naoumidis wanted to protect traditional recipes and processes while showcasing local gastronomy to the world. Foodies can visit the pepper farm’s stone production house to see how the self-sufficient process works, from organically growing the pepper seed and plants to creating pepper-based products that are so special they have protected designation of origin.
Elsewhere, Florina’s mountains and lakes put it in the heart of nature and are ideal for relaxing and exploring the outdoors in the spring and summer – in winter it’s ideal for a ski holiday that combines lively bars, neoclassical buildings, and fascinating museums close to the slopes. Pick the perfect place for any season, and enjoy a sustainable taste of Florina. Visit the Naoumidis’ website to tickle your tastebuds.
