Taking the slow train to Sivota

Supported By: Sunvil

Where there’s a will, there’s a railway. And now there’s an easy way to reach Greece from the UK without setting foot on a plane. With Sunvil, travellers can embrace a slower pace of travel, hopping on a train at London St. Pancras (or a chosen regional train station) and reaching Corfu three glorious days later.

After embarking in London, the train curves its way through the English and French countryside, and seven hours later approaches the spectacular snow-topped Alps. The journey carries on south through Switzerland and Italy, before halting for an overnight in Milan. Following a leisurely breakfast in the city, the train embarks on the seven-hour stunning journey to the Adriatic coast.

Whether it is getting stuck into a great novel, enjoying cocktails in the onboard café bar, or simply watching the countryside rush by through the window, train travel embodies true slow and mindful travel. For the final leg, passengers take an overnight ferry to Corfu, the trip culminating in a magic arrival into Corfu as the rosy sun rises above the horizon and the sleepy villages stir for a new day of island life. The slow travel ethos continues as guests spend seven days on the beautiful island of Corfu, staying in the sleepy, charming Kalami Bay and exploring the island at one’s own pace.

Train travellers now also have the option to reach the untouched beauty of Sivota in Epirus, after an overnight ferry to Igoumenitsa and short transfer. One of the least-discovered gems of Greece, Sivota is a friendly coastal town, nestled in a natural harbour framed by aromatic pine forests, olive groves and cypress trees, an area of true natural beauty.

Train travel is significantly more sustainable than plane, with CO2 emissions at 41g per km compared to 102g per km by air.
