There must be something in the water at Aldemar Resorts

Family-run Aldemar Resorts, one of Greece’s leading and most enduring hotel companies, is widely recognised for its commitment to sustainability. Its property, the beachfront Aldemar Olympian Village in the Peloponnese, has made significant strides in water conservation and renewable energy use. The resort operates a 4,704-square-metre photovoltaic field with 1,834 solar panels generating 1 MW of energy and harnesses geothermal energy, enabling 90% of its water to be produced using renewable sources. Complementing this, innovative management practices help control consumption, monitor water use, limit flow, and reuse treated water.

In 2023-2024, Aldemar Olympian Village further enhanced its eco-friendly initiatives by eliminating plastic bottles and installing 20 water stations where guests can refill reusable bottles with clean, fresh water. This shift led to a remarkable 95.4% reduction in the use of 500ml plastic bottles compared to 2019, when overnight stays were at similar levels with 2024. Additionally, single-use plastic items such as utensils and straws have been almost entirely phased out.

Sustainability extends to the resort’s dining practices, with 25% of its fruit and vegetables sourced from organic production. Food waste is minimized through thoughtful practices like reducing buffet offerings and preparing meals “à la minute” to match guest requirements precisely.

Aldemar has been committed to sustainability practices for over three decades and is a proud member of CSR Hellas.
